Diagnostic Pelvic Laparoscopy
An excellent video demonstrating how a laparoscopy is performed to evaluate the uterus (note a small fibroid appearing as a bulge in the uterus), fallopian tubes and ovaries. Blue dye is injected into the uterus, entering the fallopian tubes and spilling from the end of the tubes into the abdominal cavity, confirming that both tubes are open
Video Transcript
A narrated diagnostic pelvic laparoscopy from a fertility video library. The surgeon inspects the uterus (noting a small fibroid), both tubes and ovaries, checks for endometriosis or scarring, views the appendix, liver and gallbladder, and injects blue dye through each tube — the spillage from both ends confirms the tubes are open.

Welcome to Boker Fertility Video Library. You are now watching a Diagnostic Loparoscopy procedure. The structure in the middle of the screen is the uterus with a small fibroid tumor present. The uterus is tilted forward to allow for visualization of the uterus, tubes and ovaries. The left ovary is lifted to make sure that there is no endometriosis or scar tissue. The left tube appears normal. The right fallopian tube is easily visualized and appears normal. The right ovary is lifted and appears to be entirely normal. There is a small cyst at the end of the right fallopian tube called hydated cyst.
The pelvic floor directs a sigmoid. And the backside of the uterus are carefully evaluated to make sure that there is no endometriosis or scar tissue present. The appendix is visualized and appears to be free of any disease process. The liver and the gallbladder appear entirely normal. Blue dye is now injected through the uterus and into the fallopian tube. And the spillage of dye from the end of the tube indicates that the tube is open. The left fallopian tube is also carefully visualized and the exit of blue dye indicates that the tube is open.
