arteriosclerosis
arteriosclerosis samer kareem 1,041 Pogledi • 2 godine prije

Atherosclerosis is a narrowing of the arteries caused by a buildup of plaque. It’s also called arteriosclerosis or hardening of the arteries. Arteries are the blood vessels that carry oxygen and nutrients from your heart to the rest of your body. As you get older, fat and cholesterol can collect in your arteries and form plaque. The buildup of plaque makes it difficult for blood to flow through your arteries. This buildup may occur in any artery in your body and can result in a shortage of blood and oxygen in various tissues of your body. Pieces of plaque can also break off, causing a blood clot. Atherosclerosis can lead to heart attack, stroke, or heart failure if left untreated.

How is HIV Transmitted?
How is HIV Transmitted? samer kareem 1,527 Pogledi • 2 godine prije

-Almost all the cases of occupational transmission of HIV have been due to transmission via exposure to blood and certain body fluids. The body fluids wherein standard precautions have been recommended include semen, vaginal secretions, and any other body fluid containing visible blood. Other standard precautions, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), also apply to cerebrospinal, peritoneal, pleural, pericardia!, synovial fluid, or any other tissue, even though the epidemiologic data regarding the risk of HIV transmission from these fluids is insufficient. Standard precautions do not apply to urine, sweat, tears, sputum, vomitus, and nasal secretions or feces, as long as there is no gross visible blood. The occupational transmission of HIV has never been documented from the above sources.

Rabies
Rabies samer kareem 7,274 Pogledi • 2 godine prije

In developing countries, domestic animals (eg, dogs) are common sources of infection. In the United States, bats and wild animals (eg, raccoons) are the most common reservoirs of infection. The acquisition of rabies from bats can occur from an unrecognized bite or a scratch, and possibly by inhalation of aerosolized viral particles. Bats are found in all states except Hawaii, and spelunking (cave exploration) is a risk factor for rabies acquisition from bats.

Laparoscopic Roeder's Knot
Laparoscopic Roeder's Knot Surgeon 101 Pogledi • 2 godine prije

Although it demands an advanced set of skills that remain substantially hard to do, many of the salient steps of “open” surgery, including suturing, are credibly “replicated” in its laparoscopic counterpart with the intention of achieving similar optimal results. This video demonstrates how to tie Laparoscopic Roeder's Knot. Laparoscopic Roeder's Knot is one of the oldest knots used in laparoscopic surgery. It is used most commonly during laparoscopic appendectomy surgery. Recent literature, though abundant with numerous reports pertaining to a variety of endoscopic knotting techniques and technologies, appears to lack scientific data but Roeder's knot is a time tasted extracorporeal slip knot that is secure for 6-8 mm diameter tubular structure.

Management of COPD
Management of COPD samer kareem 1,988 Pogledi • 2 godine prije

The goal of COPD management is to improve a patient’s functional status and quality of life by preserving optimal lung function, improving symptoms, and preventing the recurrence of exacerbations. Currently, no treatments aside from lung transplantation have been shown to significantly improve lung function or decrease mortality; however, oxygen therapy (when appropriate) and smoking cessation may reduce mortality. Once the diagnosis of COPD is established, it is important to educate the patient about the disease and to encourage his or her active participation in therapy.

Laparoscopy seems to offer a safe and reliable diagnostic and therapeutic option to patients with impalpable testes. Intra-abdominal dissection allows more testes to be brought down to the scrotum. The procedure is best viewed as laparoscopy-assisted, as Orchidopexy has to be done in a conventional manner.

Journey for the Sperm to the Egg
Journey for the Sperm to the Egg Alicia Berger 18,522 Pogledi • 2 godine prije

Each month inside your ovaries, a group of eggs starts to grow in small, fluid-filled sacs called follicles. Eventually, one of the eggs erupts from the follicle (ovulation). It usually happens about 2 weeks before your next period. Hormones Rise After the egg leaves the follicle, the follicle develops into something called the corpus luteum. The corpus luteum releases a hormone that helps thicken the lining of your uterus, getting it ready for the egg. The Egg Travels to the Fallopian Tube After the egg is released, it moves into the Fallopian tube. It stays there for about 24 hours, waiting for a single sperm to fertilize it. All this happens, on average, about 2 weeks after your last period.
