Polycystic ovary syndrome is a common endocrine system disorder among women of reproductive age. Women with PCOS may have enlarged ovaries that contain small collections of fluid — called follicles — located in each ovary as seen during an ultrasound exam. Infrequent or prolonged menstrual periods, excess hair growth, acne, and obesity can all occur in women with polycystic ovary syndrome. In adolescents, infrequent or absent menstruation may raise suspicion for the condition. The exact cause of polycystic ovary syndrome is unknown. Early diagnosis and treatment along with weight loss may reduce the risk of long-term complications, such as type 2 diabetes and heart disease.
Research from Mayo Clinic finds that half of elderly patients who start dialysis after age 75 will die within one year.
Lead study author and a health care delivery scholar with the Mayo Clinic Robert D. and Patricia E. Kern Center for the Science of Health Care Delivery, Dr. Bjorg Thorsteinsdottir says many elderly patients and their families feel that they have no choice but to start dialysis, with several expressing regret from having initiated therapy.
The findings were presented at the American Society of Nephrology's Kidney Week 2013 in Atlanta.

Minimally invasive parotid surgery techniques are currently utilized here in Atlanta by our practice to allow the same operation to be performed with no permanent visible incision on the face or the neck. In addition to being more cosmetically appealing, this approach is less painful and allows the procedure to be performed as an outpatient. Most patients take pain medication for only a day or two after surgery.

If you’re asking yourself ‘what’s the cause of my knee pain?’ or ‘what kind of knee pain do I have?’ (so that you can look up solutions to your knee pain on YouTube) the position of your knee pain will tell you a lot.
THE MOST COMMON KNEE PAIN TYPES?
Knee pain during running (or actually kneecap pain while running) is usually just that… Runner’s Knee (PATELLOFEMORAL PAIN SYNDROME, or it’s old name: Chondromalacia Patella) If you get knee pain while cycling it will often be the same thing. Same with knee pain with stairs.
Knee pain while squatting could be Runner’s Knee, but if you get pain in the tendon below the kneecap, it’s more likely to be Patellar Tendonitis or Jumper’s Knee.
Meniscus Tears will give you pain on the inside of the knee that is a localised pain, can feel as if it gets stuck, or feel like it’s going to give way, and often it’s hard to fully straighten or fully bend your knee.
Knee pain on the outside of the knee is usually Iliotibial Band Syndrome
ALSO COVERED:
Infrapatellar Fat Pad Syndrome (Hoffa's Syndrome)
Osgood-Schlatter Disease
Medial Collateral Ligament Tear
Iliotibial Band Syndrome
Osteoarthritic Knee Pain
Pes Anserine Bursitis.
Quadriceps Tendinopathy
Popliteus Strain
Baker’s Cyst
ACL Or PCL Tear/Rupture

A ureteroscopy is an examination or procedure using a ureteroscope. A ureteroscope, like a cystoscope, is an instrument for examining the inside of the urinary tract. The urologist can insert small instruments through the cystoscope to treat problems in the urethra and bladder or perform a biopsy. For a ureteroscopy, the urologist passes the ureteroscope through the bladder and into a ureter.
Neck Examination - Cervical Spine Assessment - Clinical Skills - Dr Gill
Compose a new pain within athletes is cervical spine discomfort, thankfully in the vast majority of cases when the neck is examined the cause of the neck pain is found to be muscular.
However, pain can also refer from the neck to the arm, in which case it is important to be able to assess for cervical radiculopathy prior to gaining more information which may indicate an MRI is needed
We assess for radiculopathy by doing Spurling's test, an often overlooked part of the neck examination, but it should be included for completeness and reassurance of the patient - not forgetting the athlete or not, neck pain can be a considerable source of distress, so it's vital to be able to get information from the neck examination which allows you to safely reassure a patient when appropriate, or comment that neck exam found evidence that needs further investigation

Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome, an extra electrical pathway between your heart's upper and lower chambers causes a rapid heartbeat. The extra pathway is present at birth and fairly rare. The episodes of fast heartbeats usually aren't life-threatening, but serious heart problems can occur. Treatment can stop or prevent episodes of fast heartbeats. A catheter-based procedure (ablation) can permanently correct the heart rhythm problems. Most people with an extra electrical pathway experience no fast heartbeat. This condition, called Wolff-Parkinson-White pattern, is discovered only by chance during a heart exam. Although WPW pattern is often harmless, doctors might recommend further evaluation before children with WPW pattern participate in high-intensity sports.

Myelomeningocele remains the most complex congenital malformation of the central nervous system that is compatible with life. This lesion results when the neural tube fails to fold normally during postovulatory Days 21 to 27.[6] The exact cause of disorders remains under some historical debate and is not within the scope of this paper. Myelomeningocele within the context of this discussion refers only to lesions that involve an open caudal neural tube defect on the surface of the skin
