Minimally invasive open thyroidectomy (MIT) is similar to conventional thyroidectomy in its surgical approach. The major difference is the length of the neck incision. A smaller incision improves cosmesis and reduces discomfort. Typically, a skin incision less than 6 cm is considered minimally invasive. The remainder of the procedure is exactly the same as is used in conventional thyroidectomy. Adaptations to this technique include transection rather than lateral retraction of the strap muscles (the Sofferman technique). [1]

Home > Baby > Breastfeeding > Top 10 Tips for Boosting Your Breast Milk Supply Top 10 Tips for Boosting Your Breast Milk Supply COMMENTS () | PRINT A nursing momโs biggest worry is whether or not sheโs making enough milk. Weโve gathered 10 tips to help you bump up your milk production. This gallery is not intended to substitute medical advice. If you have any concerns, contact a lactation consultant or your healthcare provider immediately. 1. Nurse, Nurse, Nurse Breasts work on demand. The more your little one nurses, the more milk your body will create. When your little one is going through a growth spurt, itโs easy to fall into thinking, โmy baby is so hungry I must not have enough milk.โ Whatโs really happening is your baby is priming your body to have enough milk to support how big your baby will be after the spurt. The worst thing for your supply is to supplement with formula during a growth spurt. It can be hard to devote most of your day to nursing, but itโs the best thing for your baby, and your supply.
Colorectal cancer screening tests Screening is the process of looking for cancer in people who have no symptoms of the disease. Several tests can be used to screen for colorectal cancers. These tests can be divided into: Tests that can find both colorectal polyps and cancer: These tests look at the structure of the colon itself to find any abnormal areas. This is done either with a scope put into the rectum or with special imaging (x-ray) tests. Polyps found during these tests can be removed before they become cancerous, so these tests may prevent colorectal cancer. Because of this, these tests are preferred if they are available and you are willing to have them. Tests that mainly find cancer: These tests check the stool (feces) for signs of cancer. These tests are less invasive and easier to have done, but they are less likely to detect polyps.

Gonorrhea is usually treated with an antibiotic injection or oral antibiotics. Youโre at a higher risk of contracting gonorrhea if youโve had any other STDs. Gonorrhea is a sexually transmitted disease (STD). Itโs caused by infection with the bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae. It tends to infect warm, moist areas of the body, including the: urethra (the tube that drains urine from the urinary bladder) eyes throat vagina anus female reproductive tract (the fallopian tubes, cervix, and uterus) Gonorrhea passes from person to person through unprotected oral, anal, or vaginal sex. People with numerous sexual partners or those who donโt use a condom are at greatest risk of infection. The best protections against infection are abstinence, monogamy (sex with only one partner), and proper condom usage. Behaviors that make a person more likely to engage in unprotected sex also increase the likelihood of infection. These behaviors include alcohol abuse and illegal drug abuse, particularly intravenous drug use. Advertisement Symptoms of gonorrhea Symptoms
