Nose jobs have long been one of the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures. This is no surprise considering that the nose is the centerpiece of the face. Having a hump or otherwise misshapen nose can make an individual very embarrassed.
Although the techniques for rhinoplasty are continually improving, the tools have changed little.

Sure, they become smaller, finer, and offer more precision, but plastic surgeons continue using the hammer and chisel method for nose jobs in Delhi and all over the world. This is an awkward method and does not offer precision at all.

In Today's video, we will answer: Asian blepharoplasty or double eyelid surgery can be done for caucasian?

What is double eyelid surgery?
The people of an oriental race or south-east Asians have big upper eyelids or sagging upper eyelids which give a visual impression of having small eyelids. They do not form eyelid fold. A person who does not have an eye fold but desires to get an eye fold may have to undergo double eyelid surgery.

What is the upper eye fold?
When we observe the anatomy of upper eyelids there is a muscle known as levator palpebrae superiors (LPS) Which helps in raising and closing of the eyelids. Eyelid fold is formed only when we open our eyes this is because a thin layer of LPS muscle gets inserted into the skin. When this muscle contracts to open the eyelid, the layer of the skin where the LPS muscle attaches gets pulled in, which forms the eyelid fold.
The people who do not have upper eyelid fold means that they do have LPS muscle but this does not get inserted into the skin. So in Asian blepharoplasty or double eyelid surgery doctors insert this LPS muscle into the skin through a surgical procedure. Also, doctors access whether the patient has excess upper eyelid fat/ skin so they may remove it but the LPS muscle is sutured into the skin so that the upper eyelid fold is formed.

Asian blepharoplasty involves three things
1. Suturing/ stitching of LPS muscle to the skin
2. Removal of excess fat if needed
3. Removal of excess skin if needed

So now that we know what is double eyelid surgery lets answer some of the common questions
1. Asian blepharoplasty or double eyelid surgery can be performed on Caucasians?
The answer to this question is NO, as they do not require it because they already have an upper eye fold.

2. Can Double eyelid surgery be performed on white skin??
Yes. It can be performed on any colour of skin. It can be performed on anyone who desires to have an upper eye fold who does not have an eye fold. It is not related to any skin colour, it's just about whether the person has upper eyelid fold or not.

This is a daycare surgery. The surgery is done under local anaesthesia. The patient is discharged immediately after surgery. There will be swelling and bruising around eyes which settles down in a week. The results can be seen immediately.
